Bunyip is a charming Gippsland town located 81 km south-east of Melbourne's CBD within the Shire of Cardinia, with a population of approximately 3,131. This old railway town features a strong cafe culture, artisan bakers and butchers, and welcoming pubs and cafes.
Named after the mythical Australian creature, Bunyip sits at the edge of the historic Koo Wee Rup swamp area and offers a relaxed rural atmosphere with connections to Victoria's scenic Gippsland region.

Travel options
Bunyip's major road connection is via the Princes Highway. The town has a railway station with two platforms served by V/Line Traralgon and selected Bairnsdale line trains, with hourly services from Melbourne's Flinders Street taking approximately 1 hour 17 minutes.
Warragul Bus Lines also operates a route via Bunyip station. The station was recently upgraded with a second platform to improve service frequency and reliability.
