Talmalmo is a small rural community in the southeastern Riverina region of New South Wales, situated near the Victorian border. Located approximately 21 kilometres west of Jingellic and 23 kilometres southwest of Wymah, the town sits on the banks of the Murray River. Woomargama National Park lies nearby, about 9 kilometres away.

The town's post office operated from 1904 to 1971, reflecting its historical rural character. Today, Talmalmo offers visitors a peaceful escape in a scenic river setting, ideal for nature lovers seeking tranquility in the Upper Murray Valley.

The nearest major town is Holbrook, approximately 30 kilometres north, which is accessible via the Hume Highway. Holbrook is five hours' drive from Sydney, four hours from Melbourne, and three hours from Canberra.
