Walwa (meaning "a place of waters") is a small town in the Shire of Towong in northeast Victoria, located just 1 kilometre from the Murray River on the former Murray Valley Highway between Wodonga and Corryong. European settlers first arrived in 1837, with the township surveyed by 1870.
Originally a tin mining area in the 1880s, agriculture and dairying became the district's main industries. Today, this hidden gem is surrounded by beautiful country views and serves as a gateway to the Victorian High Country.
