Panmure is a small rural town in southwestern Victoria, situated on the Princes Highway halfway between Terang and Warrnambool. Established in the 1850s by timbercutters harvesting native forests, the town developed into a thriving dairy farming community that continues today. Mount Emu Creek flows through the town, creating a popular swimming hole known locally as "the hole."
Today, Panmure features a pub, general store/post office, primary school, and sporting facilities hosting cricket, netball, and Australian Rules football. The town sits on the traditional lands of the Eastern Maar people.
