Mitta Mitta is located on the Omeo Highway, approximately 55 km south of Tallangatta and 115 km north of Omeo. The town sits in the beautiful Mitta Valley, which takes about an hour to drive through from Tallangatta, through Eskdale and Mitta Mitta, to Dartmouth, and is a little over 4 hours driving time from Melbourne.

The town is equidistant from Melbourne and Canberra (415 km), and a daily freight service operates between Albury/Wodonga and Mitta Mitta. Mitta Mitta Airport (privately owned) provides access for air ambulance, flight training, firefighting, agriculture services and visitors.
