Grovedale is a southern suburb of Geelong, Victoria, with a population of 14,869. Originally named Germantown after German Lutheran families who settled there in 1849, the town was renamed following anti-German sentiment during World War I. German Cottage, a heritage-listed house from this early period, still stands on the Surf Coast Highway.
Today, Grovedale is a family-friendly residential area located about 6 kilometers southwest of Geelong's city center.
