Information on Wentworth,

Wentworth is a small border town in far southwest New South Wales, situated at the confluence of the Darling and Murray rivers. Once Australia's busiest inland port following the construction of a wharf in 1860, this historic town is now the gateway to Outback NSW.

It lies 34 kilometres west of Mildura, Victoria, and offers visitors a glimpse into Australia's river trade heritage alongside natural attractions like the ancient Perry Sandhills.

Travel options

Wentworth is 12 hours' drive from Sydney and six hours from Melbourne, making it ideal for a multi-day road trip. You can fly into Mildura Airport and rent a car for the 30-minute drive northeast. It's also the start or finish for the Darling River Run, a four-day road trip through the NSW Outback.

The town is approximately 265 km from Broken Hill and 400 km east of Adelaide.
