Capertee is a small village located 46 kilometres north of Lithgow at an elevation of 808 metres above the Capertee Valley. The valley features tranquil vistas and serene mountain landscapes abundant in flora and fauna, with the impressive peak Pantoney's Crown rising majestically from the valley floor.
The Capertee Valley is the world's second largest canyon, one kilometre wider than the Grand Canyon, and is home to more bird species than anywhere else in the Southern Hemisphere, making it renowned for some of the best birdwatching in the state.

Travel options
The drive from Sydney takes just over three hours, heading towards Lithgow then following signs north to Capertee. The Castlereagh Highway links Capertee with Lithgow to the south and Mudgee to the north.
The park is not accessible by public transport, however there is a train/bus service to Mudgee or Lithgow. For visitors willing to splurge, helicopter tours fly over the canyon itself. The nearest airport is Mudgee, 45.9 miles away.
