Ardlethan is a small service town in the Coolamon Shire, New South Wales, located at the intersection of the Burley Griffin Way and Newell Highway in the heart of the Riverina region. Known as the "Home of the Kelpie," the town celebrates its connection to Australia's famous working dog breed with two statues.
Established in the 19th century after gold discovery, Ardlethan later became known for tin mining, which peaked in the 1960s as New South Wales' largest tin mine. Today it serves as a peaceful service center for surrounding wheat farming areas, offering visitors heritage attractions and old-world charm.
