Norseman is the southern gateway to Western Australia, marking the end of the epic Eyre Highway that spans 1,675 kilometres across the Nullarbor Plain - the largest limestone karst landscape on Earth. Established in 1894 following the discovery of gold by prospector Laurie Sinclair, many relics from Western Australia's gold rush history remain.
Today Norseman is a sprawling town driven by mining and tourism, dominated by a huge tailings dump. Norseman is located 724 km east of Perth.
