Oodla Wirra is a small town in the upper Mid North of South Australia, located on the Barrier Highway approximately halfway between Adelaide and Broken Hill. Originally named Penn when surveyed in 1890, the town was renamed Oodla Wirra in 1940 to match its railway siding.
The settlement served as a crossing and watering point and service centre for nearby gold mines, later boasting a flour mill, school, and the Halfway Hotel. Today, it features a roadhouse and friendly pub, along with a fruit fly checkpoint for travelers.
