Information on Edmonton, QLD

Edmonton is a tropical town and suburb located 13 kilometres south of Cairns in Far North Queensland. With a population of around 11,400 people, it has evolved from a historic sugar milling town into a growing residential suburb of Cairns.
The town was originally called Hambledon after the local sugar plantation and mill, but was renamed Edmonton in 1911, likely after Edmonton in London, England. The main attraction is Sugarworld, a leisure park featuring waterslides, pools and parkland built on the site of the former Hambledon Mill.
