Urana is a charming small town in the Riverina region of New South Wales, located 561 kilometres southwest of Sydney between Lockhart and Jerilderie. The town's name derives from the Aboriginal word 'airana' meaning temporary shelter.
Surrounded by Lake Urana and Lake Urana Nature Reserve to the west and Lake Uranagong to the east, this service centre supports the surrounding wool and wheat farming district. Despite appearing as a sleepy settlement, Urana boasts real treasures including a large Soldiers Memorial Hall.

Urana is accessible by road, located 578 kilometres southwest of Sydney via the Hume and Sturt Highways. The main accommodation option is the AAA three-star rated Urana Caravan Park, situated on the shores of the Urana Aquatic Centre.
