Former Kings Own Hotel Licence transferred in the early 1960's to new hotel/motel built on the Olympic Way across the railway line. The local newsagent, a sprightly man in his nineties, is a local authority on the history of the pub.

The Rock is a charming Riverina town of approximately 1,347 people, located 32 kilometres southwest of Wagga Wagga on the Olympic Highway. Its wide, shady streets are lined with a magnificent canopy of Kurrajong trees forming the Avenue of Honour, and historic shopfronts showcase its rich railway heritage.
The town takes its name from The Rock Hill Nature Reserve, which rises 364 metres above the surrounding plains and is known as Kengal, an Aboriginal sacred site.

The Rock is situated 32 kilometres southwest of Wagga Wagga on the Olympic Highway, making it easily accessible by car. The town is approximately half an hour's drive from Wagga Wagga, which serves as the main regional hub with train and air connections.
The Olympic Highway provides direct road access for visitors travelling through the Riverina region between Sydney and Melbourne.
