Former Hotel Cecil

Former Imperial Hotel

"The original pub was built as The Imperial Hotel in 1887. However due to the number of licences in and around the Ipswich area, the Imperial lost its licence in 1891. It reopened three months later and then in 1904 the name was changed to The Hotel Cecil, During the Second World War it and quite a few others serviced the then fully staffed and very busy Railway Workshops – There have been many renovations and extensions since with the major one being in 1998 when the Ipswich Jets Rugby League Team needed a clubhouse.

Today the Ipswich Jets Rugby League Club boasts a newly renovated Gaming area, spacious and colourful Restaurant with a wide range of a la carte dishes, coffee shop, TAB and the Public Bar area which is located in the old Pub area. The club comes complete with its own ghost nicknamed "Harold" and parts of days gone by can still be seen around the bottom end of the club. Check out the hitching points on the posts or gaze in awe at our Leadlight windows over Alfies Bar. (as in Alfie Langer, a past player of the Ipswich Jets)"
