Coolac Hotel

Closed for a couple of years, reopened 2015

Circa 1862 hotel

"The Coolac Hotel (formerly known as The Beehive) was also once in our family when Walter Hoare (my grandmothers maiden name). He put the second story on and was held up by legendary bushranger Ben Hall. The story goes that he and his son were released in return for getting morning tea for the bushrangers." Peter.

"My mother, Gillian Sheather (nee Carberry) grew up in the hotel as her parents Benedict and Enid Carberry ran the hotel during the 1940 – 1950's..
(I think the licensee at the time, during the 1930's and 1940')was John and
Evelyn (Daisy) GAVIN, who was my grandmother's sister. My grandmother was
Enid Carberry (nee Stutchbury).
