Former Coronation Hotel

This hotel was established in 1911 and was sadly demolished in 1989. The hotel had a lot of problems with subsidence because of being built on black soil. I heard a story from a chap that stayed there regularly, that when you went to the gents, you walked down hill and when you came back it was an uphill walk. When having a meal in the dining room, the soup bowls were only filled half way because of the slope of the floor, otherwise the soup would spill.
The publican of the Junction City Hotel has problems with door jambs etc due the pub being built on black soil.
