Imperial Hotel Clifton goes to Auction. Will it return reopened as a Pub??.

17 February 2015

Former Imperial Hotel

Established 1884 by Allan Broadhead as a miners Pub. Bought by Resches who demolished the Pub and erected the existing building.

The Imperial ceased trading November 2003. The closing was attributed to slowing trade due to closures of Lawrence Hargrave Drive from a landslide. The opening of the Sea Cliff Bridge two years later cam to late to save the Pub.

The Hotel goes to Auction Saturday March 14 2015. Council has approved a development application for the Imperial to trade as a Hotel. Will we see the Pub reemerge with a new owner who will open the doors as a Hotel and give the magnificent old building a new lease of life?
