Peppercorn Hotel

Situated right opposite the historical Yea Railway Station, the Yea Peppercorn Hotel has been magnificently restored from its origins as the Railway Hotel.

No expense has been spared in creating a warm and inviting atmosphere, immediately enjoyed upon entering the hotel and being greeted by your hosts Tim and Jess. We were provided a full tour of the premises, starting with a beautifully decorated major suite conveniently located on the ground floor.

Upstairs boasts a verandah overlooking the hills surrounding the town, and access from five generously proportioned rooms and suites offering value and luxury to more than satisfy anybody's needs. This boutique accommodation is ideal for travellers passing through who want to enjoy a top meal or wish to arrange a gathering or party to impress! The decor, service and hospitality is just brilliant.

Information on Yea, VIC 3717

Heritage Town
Photo 01/06/2008 submitted by Gary Pope, Many Thanks

Situated 109 km north-east of Melbourne. Located on the Yea River, an inviting rural township of around 1000 people.

Originally called Muddy Creek Settlement until the river name changed in 1878 from Muddy Creek to Yea River.

The convergence of three main highways from Yarra Glen, Seymour and Benalla/Mansfield, Yea is a popular stopping point for travelers in the area.

Established in 1855 along what was once called Muddy Creek, the town provides accomodation and refreshment from a variety of hotels and establishments, making it an ideal alternative route out of Melbourne when heading north.

The Goulburn Valley Highway (B340) passes through this major town, and meets with Melba Highway (B300). The surrounding areas are a mecca for motorcyclists with some great touring roads in the Mt Slide area to the south, and east towards the High Country out of Mansfield from here.
