By the way the Cecil Hotel once had a balcony as you can see by the door way on the top floor. Anyone who opened it from the inside would have a bit of a surprise. -

It incorporated the Gaiety Theatre theatre where Dame Nellie Melba sang.

When Zeehan was a roaring town in the late 19th and early 20th centuries the Gaiety Theatre, seated 1000 people, making it the the largest concert hall and theatre in Australia.

Richard says (October 1007) he understands it is currently under construction.
