"A whole bunch of blokes from where I work booked out the Neath Hotel to watch last month's State of Origin football match. Just so they could watch the game quietly and peacefully and without potential interruption from anyone who might not have such a high appreciation of the finer aspects of the game." - Peter

Neath Hotel

The Hotel originally opened on December 18th 1914 with over 40 rooms and stables at the rear.

Edwin Anstey was the first Publican. The Hotel was a miners Pub, dropping in for a drink on the way home from the mines.

Know as the "home of the lamp", one of the miners, a courageous Harry Littlefair, who went to war in France and returned to battle after injury, had left his lamp in the safe keeping of the Publican.

His lamp still remains behind the bar at the Neath Hotel and is lit on Anzac Day every year.
